Which full spectrum infrared sauna should I buy?

Choose by budget and extras first, then size. Entry models focus on low EMF in a compact cabin, mid-range models add features such as a Himalayan salt bar, and hybrid models add a traditional stove so you can switch between infrared and high-heat sessions. Check the capacity and dimensions on each product page before you order.

Full spectrum or far infrared: which do I need?

A full spectrum sauna gives you near, mid and far infrared in one cabin; a far infrared sauna uses far infrared only and usually costs less for the same size. If you want the widest range of heat settings, choose full spectrum. If budget comes first, compare far infrared models in our low EMF infrared saunas. Our full spectrum vs far infrared guide covers the differences in depth.

What is a hybrid full spectrum sauna?

A hybrid sauna pairs full spectrum infrared heaters with a traditional sauna stove in the same cabin. The Golden Designs GDI833001 uses a Harvia 6 kW stove and the GDI836001 a Harvia 8 kW stove, and the GDI833001 lists an infrared temperature range of 118 to 132°F. The stove side needs its own electrical circuit; the GDI836001, for example, lists a 240V / 40 amp service. For stove-only cabins, see our traditional saunas.

What should I check before ordering?

  1. Floor space and ceiling height against the dimensions on the product page.
  2. The electrical service listed for the model, especially for hybrids with a stove.
  3. Indoor or outdoor use: many full spectrum cabins, such as the DYN600903, are listed for indoor use only. For a backyard, choose from our outdoor saunas.
  4. EMF level, if it matters to you: titles and specs list near zero, zero or under 3 milligauss for many models.

Full Spectrum Infrared Saunas: frequently asked questions

What is a full spectrum infrared sauna?

A full spectrum infrared sauna uses near, mid and far infrared heaters in one cabin instead of far infrared alone. Selected Comfort lists 29 full spectrum saunas from Golden Designs and Medical Saunas, including near zero EMF cabins, Himalayan salt-bar models and hybrid saunas with a traditional stove.

How much does a full spectrum sauna cost?

Full spectrum saunas on Selected Comfort are listed from $3,999 for the Golden Designs DYN600903 and DYN600603 to $24,999 for the Golden Designs GDI822601 hybrid. Medical Saunas full spectrum models run from $5,799 (Model 4) to $12,799 (Model 7 Plus). Prices are as listed in October 2026.

Are full spectrum saunas low EMF?

Many are. Several Golden Designs models are titled near zero EMF or zero EMF, and the MXM full spectrum models list EMF under 3 milligauss. EMF levels vary by model, so check each product page, or compare models in our low EMF infrared saunas collection.

Can I put a full spectrum sauna outside?

Only if the model is built for it. Many full spectrum cabins, such as the Golden Designs DYN600903, are listed for indoor use only. For a backyard, choose an outdoor model such as the Golden Designs GDI852301 or GDI852601, which pair a traditional stove with full spectrum infrared, from our outdoor saunas collection.

What is the difference between a full spectrum and a hybrid sauna?

A full spectrum sauna heats with infrared only. A hybrid sauna adds a traditional stove, so you can choose an infrared session or a hotter stove session. Golden Designs hybrids on Selected Comfort start at $9,999 for the GDI833001 with a Harvia 6 kW stove.
