Large & Wide Lift Chairs for Big and Tall Users

Large and wide lift chairs are power lift recliners sized for taller and broader users. Under UltraComfort's sizing guide, a Large chair suits users about 5'10" to 6'2" and up to 400 lb, and a Medium-Wide chair has a seat about 27" to 29" wide and holds up to 600 lb. We carry six UltraComfort models with a Large or Medium-Wide option, from the Destin Large at $1,106 to the Alora 5-Zone in Large at $3,744. A Large chair is not the same as a heavy-duty chair, so for users between 400 and 500 lb read our heavy-duty lift chair guide, or browse all power lift chairs and recliners. What size lift chair do I need if I'm tall or wide?

Choose a lift chair size by the user's height first and hip width second. A chair that is too small leaves the head below the backrest and the feet dangling; one that is too wide gives poor support. These ranges come from UltraComfort's sizing guidelines:

UltraComfort sizeWeight capacityApprox. seat widthSuggested user height
MediumUp to 400 lbAbout 20.5" to 23"5'5" to 6'0"
LargeUp to 400 lbAbout 22.5" to 25"5'10" to 6'2"
Medium-WideUp to 600 lbAbout 27" to 29"5'5" to 6'0"

Which large or wide lift chair should I buy?

Pick a Large chair if the user is tall, and a Medium-Wide chair if the user needs a wider seat or more weight capacity. Specs below are from each product page, checked October 2026:

Is a Large lift chair the same as a heavy-duty lift chair?

No. A Large lift chair is sized for a taller user, not a heavier one: UltraComfort rates its Large chairs up to 400 lb, the same as Medium. Only the Medium-Wide Vega and Maya are rated up to 600 lb. If the user weighs 400 lb or more, read our best heavy-duty lift chairs for 400–500 lb users guide before choosing.

What should I measure before buying a large lift chair?

Before buying a large lift chair, measure the user's height and hip width, your doorways and hallways, and the space behind the chair. Overall widths include 34" on the Destin Large, 38.5" on the Polaris in Large and 45" on the Vega Medium/Wide, and the chairs need about 20" to 27" of wall clearance to recline. Send us the measurements and we'll check fit before you order.

Large & Wide Lift Chairs for Big and Tall Users: frequently asked questions

What size lift chair is best for a tall person?

For a tall person, choose a Large lift chair. UltraComfort's sizing guide lists Large chairs for users about 5'10" to 6'2" and up to 400 lb, with seats about 22.5" to 25" wide. Feet should rest flat on the floor and the head should reach the top of the backrest, so check the product page dimensions or send us the user's height.

What is the widest lift chair you sell?

The widest lift chairs we sell are the Medium-Wide models: the UltraComfort Vega UC556 Medium/Wide and the Maya UC566 in its Medium Wide size. The Vega lists 29" between the arms and a 600 lb weight capacity, and UltraComfort's guide puts Medium-Wide seats at about 27" to 29". Check the 45" overall width of the Vega against your doorways before ordering.

Can a large lift chair hold 500 lb?

No. UltraComfort's Large lift chairs are rated up to 400 lb, the same as their Medium chairs. Only the Medium-Wide models, the Vega UC556 Medium/Wide and the Maya UC566 Medium Wide, are rated up to 600 lb. For users between 400 and 500 lb, our heavy-duty lift chair guide explains how much capacity headroom to allow.

How much does a large or wide lift chair cost?

Large and wide lift chairs at Selected Comfort cost from $1,106 for the Destin Large to $3,744 for the Alora 5-Zone in Large. The 600 lb Medium-Wide models are the Vega UC556 from $2,446 and the Maya UC566 Medium Wide from $3,522. Prices change, and white-glove delivery adds $299 on these chairs.

Is white-glove delivery available for large lift chairs?

Yes. Every chair on this page offers white-glove delivery as a $299 option on the product page, so the chair is brought into your home and set up rather than left at the curb. It is worth considering for larger chairs, which are heavier to move and need careful placement for wall clearance.
