Quick answer
  • Many hard shells run at 1.5 ATA by default and only reach 2.0 ATA when set. Check the working pressure, not the headline.
  • Single-person 2.0 ATA lying chambers in our range cost about $13,000–$40,000.
  • BIBS is an add-on on most models, quoted per order.
  • Only 2 of 7 makers publish noise figures. Measure your route in before anything else.

The 7 best 2.0 ATA hard shell chambers at a glance

The Ultra P is the best all-rounder, the Ultra S is the cheaper compact version, and the S-200 is the one that fits through tight spaces. The table compares all seven on size, entry, BIBS, noise and price.

How we picked

Every pick is a 2.0 ATA lying hard shell chamber that we sell and support, compared on footprint, door, BIBS, published noise and price. At Selected Comfort, we sell TECNOTU, OxyRevo and Macy-Pan, and these seven are the models we compare on the phone most weeks. You can see them all in our hard shell hyperbaric chambers collection.

Sitting and multi-person chambers are left out. For upright sessions, try the OxyRevo Space60 2.0 ATA, the TECNOTU TecnoSit Ultra or our sitting vs lying guide. Buying for two? The TECNOTU Duo Series is built for it.

Still unsure about the shell or the pressure? Our soft vs hard shell guide and 1.5 vs 2.0 ATA comparison will help.

  • 2.0 ATA working pressure, not just a 2.0 ATA headline
  • Single-person, lying position
  • Specs and prices taken from our own product pages
  • Noise listed only where the maker publishes it

The 7 picks, one by one

Start with the Ultra P unless your room, stairs or budget rule it out. Each pick below says who it suits and what to watch for.

1. TECNOTU Tecnolay Ultra P: best overall

"I'd recommend the Ultra P as the best overall choice for a single-person, 2.0 ATA hard-shell chamber," Vineet says. "It balances performance, comfort and value."

It's 10 cm longer and 5 cm wider inside than the Ultra S, and tall or broad users notice. Pressure runs 1.3 to 2.0 ATA, with 15 L/min oxygen and 180 L/min air. The catch is weight: 507 lb of housing plus a 198 lb control system. If it's going upstairs, get the floor checked first.

2. TECNOTU Tecnolay Ultra S: the compact version

Same pressure range, controls and 550 lb max load as the Ultra P, but a smaller 86.6" x 31.5" interior and a lighter build (485 lb housing, 155 lb system). Vineet points people here when the compact layout simply suits them better. One thing it doesn't list is BIBS, so if a mask system matters to you, stick with the Ultra P.

TECNOTU Tecnolay Ultra S$18,950–$19,850

The Ultra P's controls and 2.0 ATA range in a smaller, lighter body.

3. TECNOTU Single Series S-200: for awkward stairs and doors

This is for homes where a steel tube won't make the turn. It arrives in two sections and is assembled in the room. "Modular chambers such as the two-section Single Series S-200 may be easier to move through narrow doors and stairs," Vineet says.

TECNOTU quotes under 35 dB inside the cabin, from a 20 L/min system at 93% ±3% purity.

Watch out

The 1.5 ATA version ships in four smaller pieces, but the 2.0 ATA ships in two bigger ones. Measure for the version you're actually ordering.

4. OxyRevo Quest30 2.0 ATA: the no-fuss tube

It's stainless steel, 89" long and 30" across, with windows at both ends and controls inside and out. That simplicity is the appeal. It runs at 1.5/1.6 ATA by default and steps up to 2.0 on a valve. If the power cuts out, it lets the pressure down slowly.

If you'll never go past 1.5, the Quest30 1.5 ATA does the same job for less. Bigger users may find 30" a bit snug.

5. OxyRevo Quest36 2.0 ATA: same tube, more elbow room

This is the Quest36: the Quest30, six inches wider. OxyRevo says it fits an adult and a child, or a big athlete, for a few thousand dollars more.

6. Macy-Pan Dia90: if closed-in spaces bother you

At 89" x 39" x 44", the Dia90 has real headroom, and dual-view windows help if tubes make you uneasy. Macy-Pan puts its external machine at around 60 dB. That machine is its own 26" x 17" x 39" box, so budget floor space for it too.

Macy-Pan Dia90 2.0 ATA$38,500

The roomiest pick here, with dual-view windows for anyone who feels closed in.

7. Macy-Pan HP2202: pick your diameter

The HP2202 is fixed at 87" long, but you choose 30", 34", 36" or 40" across. It has a sliding door and a two-way intercom. Price depends on the diameter you choose, from $22,450 to $33,650.

A premium extra: TECNOTU Pro-Grade Carbon Fibre

The Pro-Grade Carbon Fibre ($44,950) is a BIBS-ready sitting chamber for people who specifically want carbon fibre and don't mind paying for it. Dimensions and weight aren't published yet. Ask us before comparing it with a Tecnolay.

Three things to sort out before you order

Decide on BIBS, check what's known about noise, and measure your delivery route. These three things change the model more often than price does.

BIBS

A built-in breathing system gives you oxygen through a mask or hood rather than filling the cabin. "It can be valuable for users who need it, but it should be chosen based on individual requirements," Vineet says. We quote it per order for the Ultra P and Single Series.

Noise

Only two models have published figures: the S-200 (under 35 dB inside) and the Dia90 machine (about 60 dB). For the rest, noise figures aren't published. Get in touch and we'll chase it for your model.

Delivery

A one-piece tube is easier to set up but harder to get in. Before you order:

  1. Measure every doorway, hallway turn and staircase on the route to the room.
  2. Check that the floor can take the weight (the Ultra P alone is 507 lb plus a 198 lb control system).
  3. Ask an electrician about power.
  4. Send us your measurements and ask your quote to cover delivery timing, duties, and curbside or liftgate delivery.
Pro tip

If a one-piece tube won't make the turn on your stairs, don't size down to squeeze it in. Look at the two-section S-200 instead. Our hyperbaric installation support page covers the rest.

What it costs, and who should skip it

Expect roughly $13,000 to $40,000 for a single-person 2.0 ATA lying chamber in our range. Our hyperbaric chamber cost guide explains the spread, and financing is available, subject to approval.

Modular / compact$13,450–$19,850

Single Series S-200 and Tecnolay Ultra S. Best when access or budget is tight.

Best all-rounder$22,950–$23,950

Tecnolay Ultra P. More room, optional BIBS.

Large steel tubes$29,999–$38,500

Quest30, Quest36 and Dia90. Wider bodies and bigger windows.

Vineet tells most home buyers that a 1.3 to 1.5 ATA soft chamber is plenty. A hard shell earns its price only if you need the higher pressure or clinic-style kit, plus the room and budget. Otherwise, browse our soft and portable chambers or the best hyperbaric chambers for home use.

On warranty, TECNOTU lists one year and Macy-Pan advertises lifetime cover. Ask us for the written manufacturer terms for your model. What we handle ourselves is on our parts, service and warranty page.

Safety first

Pressurised oxygen raises fire risk, so follow the manual and the FDA's safe-use guidance, and talk to your doctor first.

The bottom line

If one person will use it and you've settled on 2.0 ATA, buy the Ultra P. Go Ultra S if you want a smaller, lighter build, and the S-200 if your stairs or doors are tight. Pick an OxyRevo or Macy-Pan tube if you want more width, bigger windows or a choice of diameter.

Measure the route first, decide whether you need BIBS, and then compare prices. Start with the TECNOTU Tecnolay Ultra P or browse every hard shell hyperbaric chamber we carry.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best 2.0 ATA hard shell hyperbaric chamber for home?

For most single users, the best 2.0 ATA hard shell hyperbaric chamber for home use is the TECNOTU Tecnolay Ultra P. Pick the Ultra S for a compact build, or the Single Series S-200 for tight access.

Where can I find a 2.0 ATA hyperbaric chamber for sale?

Every 2.0 ATA hyperbaric chamber for sale on this list is in our hard shell hyperbaric chambers collection, and US shipping is free.

Will a steel hyperbaric chamber fit through my door?

That depends on the model. A one-piece steel chamber, like the 30-inch Quest30, needs a clear route all the way in. The Single Series ships in sections. Send us your measurements and we'll check.

How much does a 2.0 ATA hard shell hyperbaric chamber cost?

A single-person 2.0 ATA lying hard shell chamber in our range costs roughly $13,000 to $40,000. The modular Single Series S-200 starts lowest, and the Macy-Pan Dia90 sits at the top. Financing is available, subject to approval.

Do hard shell hyperbaric chambers come with BIBS?

How loud is a hard shell hyperbaric chamber?

Most makers don't publish noise figures. TECNOTU quotes under 35 dB inside the Single Series S-200 cabin, and Macy-Pan puts the Dia90's external machine at about 60 dB. Ask us and we'll check the figure for your model.
