Ultra Low & Near Zero EMF Infrared Saunas

A low EMF infrared sauna uses carbon heating panels built to keep electromagnetic field (EMF) readings low where you sit. Every sauna here lists its EMF tier: Low EMF (5–10 mG), Ultra Low EMF (3–5 mG) or Near Zero EMF (under 3 mG), measured 2–3 inches from the panels. Choose 1 to 8 person far infrared and full spectrum models from Golden Designs, from about $3,499.

How to choose a low EMF infrared sauna

Every electric heater gives off some electromagnetic field. What matters is how strong it is where your body sits, measured in milligauss (mG). Golden Designs grades its carbon heaters in three tiers, measured 2–3 inches from the panels, so you can compare saunas on one number instead of marketing labels.

EMF tierReading at 2–3 inSaunas herePrice from
Low EMF5–10 mG31 models$3,499
Ultra Low EMF3–5 mG15 models$3,999
Near Zero EMFUnder 3 mG17 models$3,999

If the lowest possible reading matters most to you, start with Near Zero EMF. Entry prices are close across all three tiers, so the tier is rarely what decides your budget. Size, wood and heater type usually do.

Far infrared or full spectrum?

Far infrared saunas use carbon panels that warm your body directly at a lower air temperature than a traditional sauna. Full spectrum saunas add near infrared elements alongside the far infrared panels, often with red light and chromotherapy lighting. Both types are available in low EMF versions here, so choose by the experience you want.

Size, power and wood checklist

  • Capacity: 1–2 person saunas fit a spare room or the corner of a bedroom. 3–4 person models suit couples who like room to stretch. 6–8 person cabins suit families.
  • Power: most 1–3 person models plug into a standard 120 V, 15 amp outlet. Larger models need a dedicated 120 V, 20 amp circuit. Check each listing before you order.
  • Wood: most models use Canadian hemlock. A few use Canadian red cedar, which has a stronger natural aroma.
  • Space: measure floor area, ceiling height and the delivery path. Panels ship flat and clasp together during assembly.

Ultra Low & Near Zero EMF Infrared Saunas: frequently asked questions

What counts as a low EMF sauna?

A low EMF sauna uses heaters designed to keep the electromagnetic field low at your seating position. On the saunas in this collection, Low EMF means 5–10 milligauss (mG) measured 2–3 inches from the heating panels.

What is the difference between low, ultra low and near zero EMF?

They are three tiers of heater output. Low EMF reads 5–10 mG, Ultra Low EMF reads 3–5 mG and Near Zero EMF reads under 3 mG, all measured 2–3 inches from the panels. Entry prices are similar, from about $3,499 to $3,999.

How is sauna EMF measured?

EMF is measured in milligauss with a gaussmeter, and the reading drops quickly as you move away from the heater. That is why a fair comparison quotes the distance. The figures on this page are taken 2–3 inches from the panels.

Do low EMF saunas need special wiring?

Most 1–3 person models plug into a standard 120 V, 15 amp household outlet. Larger saunas need a dedicated 120 V, 20 amp circuit installed by an electrician. Each product page lists the exact requirement.

Are full spectrum saunas also low EMF?

Yes, several are. The full spectrum models in this collection pair low or near zero EMF far infrared carbon panels with near infrared elements. Check the EMF tier in the product title.
